Well today was number 11 in the continuing saga of no hot water for showers in our house. I am so happy to report that at officially 9:45pm we finally got our new water heater to working. So the saga has ended but not without failing 2 inspections before passing the third one today. Even after the inspector left I was faced with the daunting task of starting this puppy up. No matter what I did she would not fire off. I finally thought to check the gas to make sure I had flow. Well when I cracked the lines they were full of air and the gas couldn't reach the heater. I bleed all of the lines and restored gas flow, but it still wouldn't work. I kept sending the wife to turn on different faucets to trigger the unit to work. After several failed attempts I double checked the manual. While I was sitting there a drop of condensate fell from an old opening in our duct work and hit me on the nose. I looked up and saw the problem culprit. Several weeks ago I had installed a ball valve in the hot water line so I could do some plumbing repairs and not have to drain the entire house. It was closed and there was no way hot water could have ever flowed from any of the taps. I opened the valve and bingo we had hot water in a matter of seconds. The moral of this long winded story. Always check your valving twice before you think the job is done. It is just like recovering a target, when you dig it up always double check the hole. You might have only found the tip of the treasure under your feet. Everyone have a wonderful week and I am gone to take a hot shower.
