Hello!  Just wanted to introduce myself.  I was at the meeting last night, so I may have met you in person, if not, I am Dianna.  I have been detecting since late May of this year.  I swing a Garrett Ace 250....she ain't pretty, but she finds me lots of clad! I also "cheat" with a Garrett propointer (I don't know what I'd do without it...probably still be digging my first find).  So far, I"ve found $1.76 in clad, a broken lawn mower blade, some antique nails, and a round piece of metal that I haven't IDed yet (maybe part of an old tractor).

I work full time, so I don't have a lot of time to hunt, but you'll usually find me out early on Saturday mornings, unless my son is playing football, and Sunday evenings.  I also belong to the Friendly Metal Detecting Forum, with the same user name, SouthWind.  I found out about SMARTS from my friend, Alan, who I met on the Friendly Forum.  Thanks, Alan.  Smiley

Welcome ''Greenie''. Glad you are with us. A 250 is good to start with, but I'm sure you'll move up when you start to find the ''good stuff''.  Let any of us know when you want to hunt, and we'll certainly make that happen.

Welcome Dianna, This is Ralph, we met last night. Sure are glad to have you as both a new club member and forum member. Like Mark said we were all rookies at some point in time and although I have been swinging a coil for 20 plus years I am still learning. I talked with a club member this evening and I asked him if I could go hunting with him sometime. I told him I wanted to pick his brain and learn from him. I don't know for sure how long he has been hunting but he just turned 84 this past July 3. I look forward to seeing you and Alan at our next meeting and seeing what you have found.

It was nice to meet you at the meeting. You could talk to every member in our club, and I guarentee you if they were to be 100 percent honest, they would all say they were still learning. Glad to have you in the club. Let us know when you are going hunting, or when you want to go hunting.

Hi Dianna. I'm glad we finally got to meet...it was a pleasure. I think I told you, but here it is again...I'm going to pay off my detector this week, so  hopefully I will be able to hunt my back yard in about a week and a half. Can't wait!!  : Tongue
I'll contact you once I have it set up and maybe we can hunt together the following weekend, or whenever is best for you. If you want we could try to find the remains of that shed you told me about.
I'll check with you later.

Welcome to the club. Wish I could have made the meeting but I have been in Atlanta all week. Hope to meet you at the next one if I don't see you in the field before then.

Hi Dianna,

Sorry for the late welcome, but I have been busier than a long-tailed cat at a rocking chair marathon. I missed the last meeting due to heat exhaustion from work.....guess I am getting too old for the grunt work. I am the VP and acting President (while Mark is away) of the SMARTS club and can honestly say I am still learning.............no seriously............I am still learning......I keep forgetting what I learned the day before!  Grin

Welcome and keep swinging the coil. Happy Hunting.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!  I hope to make the next meeting but may be out of town on business.  I hope not, as I wanted to meet everyone.

I was telling Alan that I found 2 bullets this past weekend in my backyard.  Talked to a guy at church and he thought the one that was in better shape was a 32 caliber.  I don't know anything about ammo, so will post pics for you to see under the right topic.

Bring the bullets to the next meeting and let the members help identify them.
