Hello to you all.  I just joined up here and wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Mike and I have been metal detecting since October of 2010.  I took up the hobby and love it.  It amazes me what you can find buried in the ground.  I started off borrowing a White's Spectrum XLT from a friend of mine to see if I would like the hobby enough to buy my own detector.  Well after the first day even though I only found clad I was hooked.  Did a little research and decided to go with the Garrett ACE 350.  Very nice machine took some getting use to as far as pinpointing goes but soon got the hang of it.  When the ACE arrived I put it together and went out to the in-laws to experiment.  Their house was built in the mid 50's but there had been an older house there before theirs.  Well the 1st signal I had I dug and was blown away.  I could tell it was an old button.  Neat I thought and old coat button but when I turned it over I read Postal Telegraph Co.  Wow, this has got to be pretty old and after researching it turned out to be close to 100 years old.  From that point on I knew this was a hobby I would love for years to come and I have been getting out every chance I get.  From Oct to Dec. I was out hunting a lot.  Found a silver quarter 40 + wheats and $60 in clad along with a few rings.  AS of Jan. 1st of this year I have found 16 silver coins, 68 wheat pennies, 2 buffalo nickels, and an 1893 indian head penny and about $100 in clad.  I started looking for a metal detecting club earlier this year and came across this one a couple of weeks ago.  Look forward to learning more about your club and meeting some other treasure hunters.  Thanks for letting me part of the Forums and Happy Hunting to all.

Welcome Mike glad to have you on the forums. We have a bunch of really great guys and gals on here and in the club so feel free to ask questions, post pictures and tell us all about your hunting adventures. Hope to see you at our next meeting August 8. Hey I forgot to add that I also have my original Eagle Spectrum I purchased in 1991. I have had to make a few repairs to it over the years, but it still gets out there and runs a close race with the "Big New Boys." The wife and I took it out the day it arrived to a local park and it came really close to paying for itself that day! With the price of gold at what it is now the finds from that day alone will pay for it with a nice profit left over. I had posted in another thread that I have a hard time selling or getting rid of my finds and I still have the jewelry we found that day. But since gold hit 1600 the other day I think I will sell and maybe buy me a new toy. Lol
