We're trying Coinhunter.  Been out 4 times since the meeting and finding nothing but Clad and Junk.  Still got a few more days left. Hopefully we'll dig something good up.

Keep going BDMike... your doing great! But strangely enough, were not seeing any posts from any competition. Hummmm.... I wonder if anyone else is really trying like Mike is?

Geesh, I thought this would be an easy contest for sure. Do we need to extend the contest to include the month of September also? If nothing noteworthy is found and posted in the next few days we just might have to do it.

It's easy, Coinhunter.... what's not easy is getting these ''snails'' to participate. Yep, I'd cut it off at midnight of the 31st and declare a winner of anyone who at least had a pull-tab. How hard is that?

Ok here we go.  Been a tough Month having to move my son into college.  However we did manage to get out a few times and yesterday I made a couple of silver finds.  Not coins but pretty cool.  The first pic is of a WW2 Metal.  It is suppose to be Blue across the top with red and white strips.  The CBI sown the middle stands for China, Berma and India.  I looked it up on the web and that was the information I found.  If anyone on here has any info I'd appreciate it.  The second silver find is of a very old fork.  Rang up nice and was nearly as clean out of the ground as it is in the picture. It is a Sterling Silver Lady Hilton Salad Fork made by Westmorland in 1940.   Both were found in the same yard.  These are my entries so far.  Plan on getting out a few more times before the end of the month so with any luck maybe I can better my entry.

Now those are some great finds Mike! I really like the campaign medal. I think I would be heading back to that site numerous times. I bet there is a bunch more stuff just hiding and waiting on someone to dig it up. Also tell us some more about where you found the trade dollar last month. Have you been back there to hunt the area again? That place deserves a bunch of research. There might have been a ferry landing site there or a place where people forded the stream. In any event it needs to be hunted numerous times very heavily. Good Luck and see you at the meeting.

Your right BDM it was Jughead. Just another example of my being old and growing more senile by the day.

Thanks Scrunch.  Have hunted the area before searching for coins.  Didn't find much as far as coins go but these two items were nice finds.

Well we gave it a try.  Too hot too dry made for very tough digging.  Went out I think 7 times during the month.  A few good days, found about $12 in clad a few Wheat Pennies and the two silver finds I posted.  I have a few older homes I'm wanting to hunt but waiting on the rain so I can dig a decent plug and not hurt the yard too much.  Thanks Coinhunter for putting on this contest it was fun.  Just wish the weather conditions would have been better.

Well folks I don't think there is any problem deciding who the newbie contest winner is is there? But to make it official and by the rules please send me your vote via a private message. I have to agree Scruch. Barber Dime Mike is the winner all the way around. He received a monetary reward last night folks of $25.00 plus I still owe him his choice of the silver dime or a two dollar bill. Which do you want Mike?
We will have a new contest soon so watch for the announcement.

AS much as I like silver Coinhunter I'm going to pass on both.  Take your pick and either put it in with the coins for next weeks hunt or the $2 bill as a prize.  Thanks for puttin gthe contest on and thanks to the person who donated the prize money.  I got a pretty good idea who it was and I really appreciate it.  Thanks for making me feel welcome and for letting me be part of the club.  I'll be watching for the next contest you can count on that.

Oh by the way Coinhunter, can I mail you a check for the hunt next week?  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go or not but looks like I can otherwise I would have paid last night.  You can email me if you prefer to.  Please give me the name of the park again I should have wrote it down last night.

I'm always confused on this site. Guess I will never get the hang of it. This post looks like it was posted September 11, but the finds are for August. I of course have been a hunter for multiple years. Since I am one of the few club members that digs practically anything, I would always have a good chance with any contest for any kind of junk finds. I get about 30 tabs or more everytime I go out hunting. Bottle caps is a close second. Some hunters have told me I need to discriminate more and not dig these things. They however dig less of these, but I have gone after them and dug these things and found some pretty nice stuff that looks like a tab according to my detector. By the way I need to get you some more tabs together this next month so you know I'm still hunting. I will not have a 5 gallon bucket though like I gave you last year at the club hunt.
