Hey I'm just wondering what all of you swing?  I have already seen a feud going on over Minelabs and Whites.  I'm just curious to what all of you like and why.  I expect to upgrade in a year or so, so I'd like to know your stories on why you like the detector you use.

Not really feuding just good fun between folks. Roll Eyes. I use a Minelab SE Pro. I really like it because of the seperation between good target and trash. Plus if you get used to the sounds you can find some good stuff. I have had White's machines and i just perfer the Minelab. I do say that they are some folks in the club that are finding some good stuff with the MXT Pro, so that might be a good choice also. Fisher also makes a good machine. Cool

I use a White's MXT PRO with a 10x12 SEF coil. If you are looking to upgrade stay with a brand name. White's, Minelab, Fisher all have great machines. It is more of a personal preference as to which you like. I got my MXT because I do a lot of relic hunting and it is a great relic machine. If you want to find silver they all with do the job but I think the Minelab is awesome at finding silver. Fisher takes some getting used to (as they all do) and it goes deep as well. When you are ready to start looking let us know what type of hunting you will be doing and your price range and we can recommend some machines for you.

Some good advice here on the forum, what ever you have, you got to learn all you can about your machine. I use a mxt 300. It's a little simpler for me, but I'm still learning

Hi, Mike. I too use a Whites MXT pro. My reason is it's affordable, very accurate, and has the best customer and tech support in the industry. Our very own club member Tom Copeland, who is the Whites dealer, helped develope that machine. No better tech support than that. In any case, just do what's right for you! Truthfully, all machines find good stuff in the hands of a good and learning detectorist! We all use different stuff, switch around with some of us and see what you like the best. We'll all share.

Thanks for the responses fellows.  I'm still a year or so away from upgrading.  I've used a White's XLT and liked it but I would really like to get a Minelab I think.  Got plenty of time to research.  Again thanks for the info and I'm sure I'll be asking loads of questions before I buy.

Being a newbie to MD'ing and to the club I'll go ahead and add my detector to the list, anyway. I have a Tesoro Vaquero. I chose the Vaquero after much searching, comparing, evaluating and asking a multitude of questions on various forums. The things that I found important to making a decision, and the the things I saw in the Vaquero were - ease of operation (it didn't take a rocket scientist to operate it!!), feedback from other users (most raved about its depth...its light weight...and its reliability). Finally, price. In my estimation it provided the most "bang for the buck". Also the lifetime warranty and customer service reputation were the final convincing points....Oh, also - it is made in America!
So far I have found nothing to change my mind!

Thanks for letting me put my two pennies in.     Grin
