I guess people dont know the significance of a 69 cal. bullet. When an eagle button beats it in the finds of the month.

Those .69's are monsters. I dig a bunch of them in VA and I can't imagine getting shot by one.

Do you think!! But, if what I was told once is true, that the .69 was used by only a very few unit's...... remember Shiloh.... how did they get all the way to Va..... and who were they? That calibre ''certainly'' raked havock on the Confederacy!!!.

Unless you tell the non relic hunters of the rarity or importance of the find then they do not know or understand the value of the item.  That is a paraphrased comment I was told by a long time relic hunter Mr. V, and I have to agree with the man. I would be willing to bet that had you included a paper with it giving some details about it you would have won handily. In the few years I have been in the club folks have made such a big deal over buttons that they have forgotten that bullets and other items are just as important or more important than a button. To begin with I hardly ever saw a button come in but there were always bullets. Now there are buttons almost every meeting being entered. I voted for the bullet because I knew the rarity had I not known I would have voted for the button also.

Now with that said we need either a person or group of persons to volunteer and do a training/informational meeting on identifying Civil War finds. We also need to expand this idea into other areas of interest of club members. I am going to start a new topic in the club news section about this so folks please put on your thinking caps and help me brainstorm this idea.
