Finally got to hunt the new campsite Saturday and did pretty good for the short time we were there. My very first hole was a 3 ringer. Within minutes Guy and Sham found bullets as well. It was so nice to hunt open fields instead of the woods we have been hunting.  I ended up with two dropped 3 ringers, one fired 3 ringer, part of a brass casing (Sharps?) and a piece to a McClellan saddle with beautiful green patina. Guy and Sham found several bullets and a couple buttons as well. It was a great way to end 2011 and can't wait to get back to Culpeper, VA in March for a whole week of hunting some great sites. If anyone is interested in going let me know. There are three invitational hunts at that time and we are attending two of them. I hope y'all have a great year of hunting.

Great finds there Randy. Like the picture of Sham, and the one of Guy really shows off his best side. Lol

Thanks Ralph. Guy was about a block away from me and I had my zoom maxed out across the field. He later told me that he did get a bullet out of that hole. Sham's picture was by pure accident. He was digging a bullet too and he turned just when I snapped the picture. I had no idea how well it came out until I got home and uploaded. I hope you have a fantastic year this year.

There are two Diggin in Virginia hunts and one Relic Rescue hunt. The website for DIV is http://www.mytreasurespot.com and the Relic Rescue website is http://www.justgodetecting.com/

We are going to the first DIV hunt and the Relic Rescue hunt. Both will be in Culpeper, VA which was the largest cavalry battle of the civil war. This is a link of the battle history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Brandy_Station

These hunts will be on property that is off limits to metal detecting outside of these invitational hunts. Check out the DIV photo gallery for pictures of some finds from previous hunts. If you have any questions just let me know and I will try to answer.
