Just a tired old fool!

« on: January 29, 2012, 07:28:52 PM »

Got out today and did a whole day of detectin'. Had a blast! Missed a hookup with Mr.Vision and me a Curly just couldn't make the connection so I hunted by myself. Found a good amount of clad and memorials....the silver evaded me this time. But I did hit the "Site" for some eyeballin' and found some marbles (one a nice large clay marble) and some trinkets. Will need to hit that place again with the detector. Smiley

Found 7 quarters, 13 dimes, 8 nickels and 70 pennies. That's a coin total of 98 coins!

Here's some pics:

Harold what in the world are you trying to do, take away my handle of Coinhunter? Lol Way to go, we need to hook up someday and see who finds the most coins. That would be a good competition for us.

They have moved a lot of dirt around and are working on the "underground" stuff. The way that the soil has been moved could bring some older stuff closer to the surface.

Okay Mr. Wantabe lets just see what you got. I don't think you can come close to me. If you wanta try then bring it on. In fact lets make this interesting. The looser donates twenty  bucks to the club plus all the coins we both find and pay for the other's dinner at the next club meeting. The gloves are off put up or stay home. If you can't hunt with the big dogs then stay on the porch.

Okay.....so here's my idea on the "ground" rules. If you accept these rules then the dual is on! We hunt for the entire month of February. And there will be points awarded for the following and the one with the most points wins. You had better oil up them ole knees and put plenty of BenGay on that old back son! Cry   So here's my take on the rules:

1-He who finds the MOST coins during the month of February gets 1 point.
2-He who finds the HEAVIEST amount of coins during the month of February gets 1 point.
3-He who finds the OLDEST coin gets 1 point.
4-He who finds the most VALUABLE coin gets 1 point.
5-He who finds the most coins on the one day public dual (field to be determined by Scruch) gets 1 point.

So hows about it? Do you agree to the terms? If you agree just say so in this post and the DUAL is on!!!! May the best man win! OF COURSE WE KNOW WHO THAT IS GOING TO BE!!!!!!! Grin

Once again....only the clad and memorials are to be donated to the club.

And Curly......I accept you as my Second.  Smiley

Now........I am looking for some sponsers to pledge against my finds. If you have faith in me and would like to make a pledge just post to this topic. I need pledges for the following:

A- Someone to pledge to match the total number of pennies I find.
B- Someone to pledge to match the total number of nickels I find.
C- Someone to pledge to match the total number of dimes I find.
D- Someone to pledge to match the total number of quarters I find.
E- Someone to pledge to match the total number of "other" coins I find.

Come on.....let me see some pledges. All pledge money is to be donated to the Club.

SO COME ON YOU OLD MODEL "A"......REV YOUR MOTOR UP AND LET'S GET STARTED! JUST DON'T THROW A ROD!  Grin

Sound cool. I can recommend a good place to hunt for you guys. Its the place where 4 of us found over 300 coins one afternoon that were mostly dimes and quarters. I think you know where I am talking about Ralph. Looks like a fun challenge for you guys.

Harold I can't do a whole month of hunting. Heck I am lucky to even get to hunt one day out of a month right now. I say we choose a Saturday set up a time and place and have at it. We can hunt for a set amount of time, have our seconds with us to ensure no questionable events, let them carry the finds and have an official time keeper. This will be a get down and dirty event and then if a rematch is requested we can make plans for a major hunt off. If this is acceptable then lets go for it. I like the points idea but the whole controversy is about who finds the most coins. I know I will so I would like to find some sponsors who believe in me and are willing to match my coin totals. If you want to back me then post it on here please. Scruch can you be my second and be the person who selects the site? If so then welcome. All clad and pennies will go to the club coffers as well as all sponsor money raised. Finder gets to keep any gold, silver, or coins with numismatic value.

I need some sponsors, Will you back me in this head to head show down?

Oh.....okay. Grin  Wink

If you're too old......I guess you're too old! Grin

Okay......how about next Saturday (I have to work this Saturday) and the winner is the one who finds the most coins in one hunt (location and duration to be determined).

I too would like some sponsers......just match my total coin count and all sponser money goes to the Club.

Ok, Ralph.... I'll back you, with .25 cent's per usable coin found by you ( usable=no corroded zinc'ons or bent up coin's). You up for that Vision?
It all goes to the club!! Oh..... and BTW.... I'll guarantee a minimum of $20.00.

Scruch thanks for being my second and offering to sponsor me. Next Saturday is the 11th and that isn't a good date for me. Lets try to have it the Saturday after the club meeting so we can try and get some more sponsors lined up. We can tell the club members at the meeting and see if any will join in. I sent out an email last night about our duel and I have received 2 replies so far. One is a sponsor offer and the other was an invite to hunt in a $9,000 cash prize money hunt out near Salt Lake City, Utah. That sounds like an idea for a future hunt we might consider sponsoring in the future.. Back to our duel. The weather forecast looks good for that day. Lets schedule it to start at 10 and last until 3. We will take a lunch break of 30 minutes at 12:30 then start again at 1. Neither us or our seconds will count the coins we have found at any time until the hunt is over. All pockets will be empty and will be checked prior to the hunt beginning. You may use scoop, shovel, or hand digger and you must fill your own holes. You may use your choice of detectors but they must be your own and pin pointers will be allowed. One back up machine will be permitted and headphones are required. The seconds will hold all coins. Any hole not filled will be a deduction of 1 coin per hole.

Mark, in response to your question of where, the two seconds should talk it over and come up with an area that is agreeable to both. In fairness to Harold and I and with respect to our bad knees and backs it should be a place easily accessible with out a bunch of hills to have to climb and it should be a place where we can find coins. Not some place that has been hammered to death. After all we want to raise some money for the club.

No.... No.... and No! This duel was my idea, and it's going to stay under my supervision! I can agree to most of your ''rule's'' Ralph, but one. there will be no ''back-up'' machine allowed! Just like any race, ''you run what you brung''. My field is level, and young. Less than 10 year's old. This is the field you and Harold must hunt, or the sponsorship is off. How say you Ralph.... how say you Harold? It's your decision.

Vision.... Harold and Ralph will have to work out when. I Already have the place, so when they decide the time, I'll tell them where, and we can watch and make sure there's no ''enhancement's'', if you know what I mean.
