I love to find carved mini balls.  Here's a "Sea Serpent".  The head looks like it got in the way of a rock or plow over the years.  Note the dorsal fin and tail.  I found these 3 or 4 years ago.

That is a very interesting carving.

Pretty neat how it stayed so well intact

I agree with you guys that this is definitely interesting, but how can you tell that this was ever a mini ball? It just looks like a piece of junk lead that someone started messing with. I know I am somewhat challenged in visual perception but I just can't see any details in the pictures. If I had found it I would have just thrown it in with all the other scrap lead I have found. You will have to bring it to a meeting and show me the details sometime because I really do want to understand what you have here. I might have been finding stuff myself and just tossing it thinking it of no importance. I hope not but I remember throwing away a large chunk of lead recently that looked like it had came from out of a can where it had been melted. It had a couple of what I thought were nails sticking out of it so I just thought it was junk

That's why I'm posting some of these "off the wall" finds.  Everybody would recognize a belt plate or a button but those are only a tiny fraction of what you will find on a site.  I will post some more carved mini balls in the next couple of weeks.

Don't toss them because they are some of the "better" finds you are liable to make.  They generally fall under the category of "Camp Art"; and as such, capture the attention of art folks, history buffs, and nuts like us.
