I found this a good while back at a CW battle site on the side of a hill that was hotly disputed at close quarters.

wow, thats cool. where did they put the markings on old knives then? or did they use markings?

I've found old farm implements before but as soon as you get them out of the ground you'll notice they are heavy and awkward, even if they are somewhat sharp.  Notice the multiple bevel of the blade at the tip.  This thing is actually still a little sharp on the blade.  The "dull side" of a bowie knife will always be flat because it is used as a blocking surface.
