The real treasure is in the searching...

« on: February 23, 2010, 06:30:37 PM »

This week I am camped at Loud Mine in GA.

http://www.goldprospectors.org/Membership/LDMA/LoudMine/tabid/129/Default.aspx

I took the Excalibur out to an area where the once used hydraulicing in the 1800s. Didn't find a thing.

I came down here to dredge, but after testing the cold water ole Bubba punted. I went to Crisson Mine and got a high banker. They have dug many piles of dirt from the mine and dumped them beside the open pits filled with water. You are allowed to set up your highbanker next to them and feed them into your hopper. Haven't cleaned it up yet, but things look promising. I'll try to have some pictures before I leave.

Hey Bubba or anyone else! Is there any other good spots in Tn other than Coker Creek to pan or sluice?  Last week I went to a spot in the Cherokee National Forest about 26 miles away from Coker but didn't find anything. It was sure cold...glad I had those chemical rubber gloves from the Army.

Small amounts of gold have been found in the gravel bearing creeks around Maryville up towards the Chillhowees.
