Forum rules and guides

1. If in doubt about it don't post it. Why take the risk involved?
2. No profanity is allowed although you can substitute symbols or abbreviate to express a point occasionally. This is not in every post and this is not giving you permission to post expletive ridden remarks about people, places, or things.
3. No defamation of character, slander, threats of bodily harm, or insinuated threats, or judgmental remarks about or towards other members will be tolerated. Violation of this rule is an immediate 30 day ban from the forum. Member may reapply after the 30 days. Membership will be voted on by all forum members in a poll as to whether the person will be allowed to rejoin the forum.
4. No Porn or links to it.
5. Posting of links to other forums for metal detecting interests is acceptable, but under no circumstances will links for spam, porn or illegal activities be permitted.
6. If you post a picture of your finds, don't expect it too always be on the site so make sure you keep a copy. We pay for the bandwidth and storage we use and if we exceed our limits it costs a lot extra.
7. The Moderators and Administrators of this forum are not responsible for the "lunacy or lack there of" that is shown by forum members. Any moderator or administrator has permission to close, lock, delete, or suspend a forum member's account or topic, pending review by the forum directors. The forum directors rulings are final but each case will be reviewed and a vote taken prior to official discipline being given. The forum directors consist of the Administrators and moderators of this forum.
8. All forum members are expected to act like adults. There will be no gripping, name calling, or whining allowed. This is not a children's playground people. If you start a thread that is controversial or asks for opinions of other forum members, expect to receive some that do not meet your expectations. This is only fair and correct because after all didn't you make the post and ask for them?
9. If you want to make a suggestion about the forums please Private Message one of the moderators or administrators. Don't post it in the forums that is not the proper place for it.
10. Being a member of this forum does not mean you are a member of the SMARTS Treasure Club. Unless you are a paid member of the club then any suggestions about or for the club should be email to a club officer. Their emails can be found on the clubs main website located at www.Smartstreasureclub.com. If you are a member then you may make suggestions via this forum. there is a special group that all paid club members belong to and that allows them to post in the restricted areas.
11.. If you want to go hunt ask someone, don't wait to be asked. If you are asked then make sure you always cover your dig holes and thank the person who invited you.
12. If you join this forum you are expected to participate. Here are the simple participation guidelines.
a. You must log in once every 60 days. Lets be honest here folks, if you don't log in and make a post every couple of months are you really interested in being a member of a forum that is trying to promote our hobby? It takes less time than you think it does plus it shows that you are an active member of the forum and are really and truly a person who cares about the other forum members finds.
13. If for some reason your account is deactivated then you must email an Administrator and request reinstatement. If you have lost or forgotten your password then again you must email an administrator. Do not contact a moderator as they cannot issue new passwords.
14. If your account is deleted for lack of participation then you may reapply after 14 days.
15. If you reapply and are accepted following a disciplinary action and you fail to follow the rules for a second time you will be banned permanently.
16. The forum Administrators have the right to modify these rules at any time following a majority vote on the rule by them.
17. There are always special circumstances and they will be listened to.
18. Although not posted previously it should be noted that since the forums were started there have always been a panel of 4 Administrators and 5 moderators. Administrators are also moderators. If there are posts on this forum that are getting out of hand then please contact someone immediately. I am not the only person who can stop something before it escalates and never have been. I also am not always available to moderate these forums. I trust the people who have volunteered to be in positions of authority to ensure the forums are maintained properly. All Administrators and moderators are identified under their names and on each board and always have been.
19. This forum was approved by the members of the SMARTS Treasure Club to bear its name but does not depend the clubs Constitution or By Laws for its rules and guidelines. In fact there is no mention of a web page or forum in either the Constitution or By Laws because they were not around when the club was formed.
20. If you can't live with these rules then please don't apply! They are simple rules designed to make it easy to participate and promote our hobby.
21. Please abide by the metal detectorists Code of Conduct at all times and always get permission before you hunt.
22. If you are an expert or a dealer willing to take the time to moderate a specific section of this forum dealing with your expertise then contact a moderator or administrator. We would love to have your expert input and guidance.
23. Stick a fork in it because these are the rules and guidelines at this time.
