Boaz and I were discussing hunting TVA land today.  I thought I saw somewhere it cost $5 to get a day permit.  According to what I just found it is free and lasts two years.  Anyone see or know different?

I am putting in for this.  I don't know if any of you have or not, but I would like to hit a few of the swim and camp areas near dams.  Anyone interested?  The season starts April 15th and goes to Oct. 1st  Anyone up for hitting Norris and Melton Dam areas let me know, I would like to join you.

That would stink if you had to pay. Only a handful of people find good stuff and the majority of us dig trash. Society as a whole fails to see that and we get stuck with the short end of the stick.

I really hate it when people think you're rich or finding gold because you have a metal detector.

It is free to get a permit. I have one personaly. I have been water detecting once...took my Ace 250 LOL so all I could do was go up to around my knees! still had a great time...first and only GOLD was found on that trip! anways, you should get one and then let me know when and where...i might be interested in areas that i can get in with a land detector.

The main TVA office is downtown Knoxville off of Market Square Mall. I just walked in and asked where I could get the permit and 10 minutes later I had it. Quick and easy!!

Mine expires August of 2011. According to the rules as written, you could not hunt house sites on the land. Does anyone know if it is possible to get permission from the TVA police to do so?
