This coin was in with a bunch of old money my father in law gave me. I have no idea what it is or where from. It is fairly heavy and thick. It measures about 1" in diameter.

It appears to be a lead immitation of a Tyrian Shekel.

My grandson found an almost identical one not that long ago while on the play ground at school. He gave it to me and I looked it up. It was a copy of a Roman coin. In fact after getting it under a really powerful magnifying glass I was able to read copy stamped on it. Someone had tried their best to get rid of the word. It is still a neat find.

I was on one of the treasure forums a couple of years ago and saw where a guy had detected and dug a lumpy old coin in Michigan that he could not identify and after I stared at it for a while, I realized that he had posted the pic upside down but it was a genuine "As" of the Roman emperor Trajan, 97-117 AD. albeit in poor condition. What was that doing buried in Michigan? He never replied after I gave him the ID.
