Has anyone ever tried to MD on the UT campus? Lots of history there and it is built on/near civil war fort.  Wanted to see if anyone has tried it.  I think they are on winter break this week so I was thinking about going down there.  There is a map from the 1930s on Knoxnetwhere.

I woudnt think this would be allowed. I dont think it is like a public school or park. Maybe if you could find a grounds keeper there, they might give you more insight. I personally would not just go to diggin'...
Maybe there are some rules posted somewhere on the UTK site?

Absolutely get permission. A college is not a public school. Many spend a lot of money on grounds maintenance and shudder at the thought of detectors. Maryville college officials will actually threaten with legal response. Shocked

I stopped and asked for permission to hunt the vacant married student housing off of Sutherland the other day and they said "no way absolutely not".

Who did you find to ask?  I called the grounds dept. and they said it's not up to them but they didn't know who to ask. The UTPD was no help and no one else answered their phone.  Maybe if I act like a drunk football fan and pretend to pass out in the grass, they won't notice me

That wouldn't work.......they would just think you were a student and try to send you to class! Grin

I asked the maintenance super (that's what he said he was). He said that someone had tried earlier to hunt on that land (married housing) and UTPD gave them a warning not come back. Take it for what it's worth.......

Good one Harold!!!

Way back when I attended they would have thought you were high on weed and would have asked for a joint for themselves!

Excellent one Harold

Ask to Hunt at Johnson Bible College.  I hunted there once 15 years ago with permission from one some higher up and they said have fun.  Ask first.  I did find several silver coins that day.
