Hello everyone.  My name is Bill, but on-line I usually go by waygood.(A nickname that my wife stuck me with).  I live in Indiana and work as a Respiratory Therapist to earn a living.  My hobbies are treasure hunting, big game hunting, camping and fishing. Just about anything that can be done outdoors interests me.  I am 54 years old and have been digging coins out of the ground ever since I bought my first metal detector in 1972, a whites coinmaster.  Searching around old house sites and old churches has given me countless hours of entertainment over the past 38 years.  Just recently however, my brother inlaw has convinced me to accompany him to Arizona to look for gold nuggets.  He just bought his first metal detector this week, a whites MXT pro, and is convinced that he can find gold.  We plan to travel to Arizona in May for one week to search for gold.  I need a new detector but am unsure what to buy.  My detector is old and technology has left me behind.  My brother inlaw and I have both joined the GPAA and are anxious to learn from those of you here who have experience and are willing to share.  Any information that any of you can share from where to go, what kind of equipment should be used to how to do it would be greatly appreciated from these two amateurs.  Well this is turning into a long post so I will end it here.  Looking forward to communicating with all of youj.

We have two members Waygood who are dealers for different types of machines. One is a Whites dealer and the other is a Minelab dealer both with many years of experience to draw on. Tomcat is the Whites dealer and 4-H is the Minelab dealer. You can send both of them personal messages through the forums or you can email them. I am sure they can help you with any questions you might have.
Oh, and welcome to our forums. We have a club member who lives in Indiana also. His handle is IndianaWendell. You should email him also and see if you guys are close enough to go hunting together sometime. When you get a chance post us some pics. of your past finds.

Hey waygood, My name is Mike and I have been prospecting for about a year now and I absolutely LOVE it. I do not do much prospecting with a metal detector but I use pans, shovels, screens and a sluice box.  With your GPAA membership you should have received or will be getting a guide book of all GPAA properties in the u.s. But gold prospecting is alot like treasure hunting.....research and getting permission, but feel free to yell at me any time. good luck!
